When you donate to San Juan United Way's impact areas, your gift is used to fund the most pressing needs of our community through the work of our local partner agencies working across San Juan County. Thousands of individuals and hundreds of workplaces throughout our community pledged their support last year, in 2021, which will fund grants being distributed between May 2022 - January 2023.

Designated Nonprofit Agencies

Donor designations are pledges made to San Juan United Way by donors, both individual and corporate, that designate their contribution to a specific nonprofit that will be paid out quarterly throughout 2022. San Juan United Way does not take any fees from donor designations, which means 100% of what we receive goes to the nonprofit or impact area you choose.

3rd Party Payments:
There are several local campaigns where SJUW Designations/Restrictions are paid directly to local nonprofit organization through a third party processer or by another United Way.

Pledge Loss:
This represents the amount of money that goes uncollected each year. Pledge loss can happen for several reasons: employees can leave their job, get laid off, voluntarily stop their donation, or a company can close or undergo major changes, etc. Historically, our annual pledge loss has been close to 5%. In order for SJUW to maintain the highest levels of impact and sustainability, we cannot distribute money that we do not collect. Pledge loss is estimated based on historical data. SJUW will distribute the awarded funds contingent on full collection of our campaign pledges.
